An invitation and call to all the peace and justice loving people of the Unitarian Universalists! Demand an end to tRump and his regime!
I am leaving DC {weeping} tonight for a hot moment, (should the airplane goddesses look kindly onto me) but before I go, I am doing a short presentation at this UU church in Bethesda Maryland. Fortunately for me, there is a metro stop and a short bus ride to get there.
This is what I hope will inspire the people in attendance to come to DC next Saturday when we surround the white house:
A call was put out maybe a month or 2 ago by Refuse Fascism that tRump ®ime MUST GO NOW This call included sustained presence & actions in DC beginning 11/5, one year after that unspeakable election that put this white supremacist, fascist in power, and staying until he is deposed.
Thousands showed up in DC November 5th, on the mall, attended a 2 hour rally, and then marched for over 4 more hours around the entire city of DC.
We’ve been there doing actions every day since.
We all know that thousands of us are not enough in our country of 345 plus million people, to impact the power of fasicsm..
Even the 8.2 million people of the last No Kings march – the largest single day protest in u.s.ofa. history – even 8.2 million people is not enough.
Nor can we wait for mid-terms.
And we certainly can’t wait for his term to end.
I know, most of us are working hard: no kings protests, bantering, letters, meetings, phone calling, etc. These are ALL valid & important actions.
But not enough. Not enough to end fascism.
Even passing Prop 50 despite the hundreds of millions of dollars wealthy repubs put into California to defeat us. Even the huge blue wave of the recent elections!
Not enuff – not enuff to stop fascism.
But this pres & regime have us racing from fire to fire. Every day there’s another blow to our democracy, another violent attack on our neighbors, another flaunting of our rule of law. Every day, another fire to attempt to extinguish before racing to the next fire.
Refuse Fascism has put out the call to go after the flame throwers, the arsonists – not instead of the firefighting but along with the fire fighting.
So, on top of continuing daily actions to restore justice, we are going to prioritize stopping the fascist, white supremacist arsonist, next Saturday Nov 15th 1pm at the White House.
We will Surround the White House 1.0 with as many people willing and able to come to DC.
How many peace and justice loving people will prioritize ending this fascist regime and come to DC?
Millions are needed, but we will begin with however many come. And as we wait for your arrival, we will be busy organizing, spreading the word, and standing tall to defeat this cruel regime debasing our democracy at the very least, while killing, raping, torturing people.
