If you think things were bad during shutdown, what makes you think they’ll be good after the dems capitulated, getting nothing?
Dems were supposed to hold out for a one year extension of ACA health care. Instead tRump used the illegal halting of SNAP food benefits for the hungriest people in our country as leverage to make those 8 legislators capitulate.
He not only halted SNAP benefits, even though there are billions of dollars in SNAP ready reserve for this very purpose of government shutdown, ensuring people will not go hungry.
He defied two court orders to release those SNAP funds.
He appealed to the Supreme Court to stay the judge’s order until the Supreme Court can decide the fuckin case.
Now he is threatening to punish those states that stepped up to fill in for the federal government by providing state funding to carry over SNAP benefits.
This is what I mean when I say we live in the cruelest country in the world. Yes, other countries are doing horrendous things to their people. But we have the resources and ability to feed every single person in this country, and yet, even though we claim to be a christian country, we do not have the commitment let alone the desire to feed anyone.
In fact, several proudly boast their fury at immigrants, often arriving here with a small bundle of belongings that are swiftely taken away from them by border patrol, getting free food – as if.
And now, the president of this allegedly ‘great’ country, is not just refusing to allow the funds already in the bank for this very purpose, to be released, but is promising to make people who have already gone through the abundant red tape of applying for and receiving SNAP, to make them go through the whole process in an attempt to dissuade people from eating.
