After today’s amazing, fierce showing of youth at the ICE FUCKIN OUT rally, march, and protest, no one can continue with the fallacy that our youth aren’t involved.
From 13 to 15 years old, students got up on the stage and spoke their hard and painful truths of how ICE & this fascist regime is terrorizing their families and tearing them apart.
Some spoke of how their immigrant parents sought citizenship for 20 years before they gained it – the fuckin ‘legal’ pathways.
Others told us their parents self-deported, leaving them mother-less and father-less here, in this the only land they know.
Everyone spoke of the fear but even more strongly of the determination they have to say FUCK ICE no matter what.
Not only did they speak their stories but these youth had a clear understanding of the truth of exactly what is happening in our country.
They haven’t succumbed to the maga & kirt & turning point propaganda being shoved down their throats.
In addition to students, there were representatives of teachers, the Oakland school board, the OEA Oakland Educators Association union, and a Reverend.
After drying our tears, thousands of us took our signs, chants, and FUCK ICE resonating every few steps, marching up to Fruitvale Ave, over to Foothill and then back across 35th Ave to the BART – through one of the immigrant-rich neighborhoods of Oakland.
We were accompanied by the awesome, loud & flashy Brass Liberation Band, still going strong inspiring us to continue fighting for our rights for the past 25 plus years!
