I’D RATHER A REPUBLICAN WIN THAN A DEMOCRAT WHO VOTES REPUBLICAN

We, peace & justice loving folks, are supposed to be so terrified a republican might get elected to office that we will vote for the democrat deemed by some omniprescience force to be the most likely to win.

That democrat’s billionaire status, his values, his platform, etc etc etc doesn’t matter. Only his Democrat affiliation and the party machine backing him matters.

The fact that there is another democrat that more closely aligns with our beliefs and hopes for our state doesn’t matter.

The ONLY thing that matters – heaven forbid – is that a repub is not elected.

It’s the whole “lesser of two evils” fear-mongered vote.

The nanosecond those in power were able to sell this voting strategy of holding your nose and voting for the lesser of two evils, is the nanosecond we lost our collective ability to influence the democratic party.

For those in power now know we will settle for less than what we want & deserve: i.e. we will not risk demanding what we want but will gratefully sop up the crumbs shed at our feet.

And then we are deeply hurt, shocked even, disgusted when that democrat moves to the right.

Then there’s also the force that undermines the best candidate by putting out again, some omniprescience dictate, that she can’t possibly win.

Well she can win if we vote for her – and get out the vote for her.

How ridiculously weak is it of us to ensure that negative force becomes reality by doing its dirty work & deciding, even before the ballots are hot off the press, to not vote for her – because “she can’tpossibly win”!

And lastly, those who still remember the 2000 election Bush stole and are STILL blaming Ralph Nader & the Green Party for taking votes away from the Democrats.

Instead of blaming Al Gore for denying the Black Caucasus request to investigate voter suppression [of the Black vote] in Florida: a suppression maybe most white folks will now give credence to in light of our 6 supreme court judges recent action.

First of all, it is not a third party’s job to ensure Democrats win.

Secondly, if Democrats were doing their job, there’d be no need for a third party.

That said, I care deeply that Katie Porter wins, so deeply I will work hard to ensure she wins.

I’ll not settle for yet another fucking billionaire or any other man now running.

These are some of the points I’ve gleaned from witnessing Katie Porter’s in action in congress & debatess – and not from glossy flyers stuck in my mail box. These are the policies that are important to me – still important:

*free childcare (how many decades has this NOT been a democratic party goal)

*affordable housing

*abortion services

*clean and accessible water

*preventing the closing of the 25% of hospitals slated to close under the big ugly bill

*saving clinics, other health care services threatened by the big ugly bill

*eliminating state income tax for families making less than $100,000

*protecting everyone from dhs, ice, border patrol

She is a womon who stands fiercely and unafraid, and does not bow down to the fascist forces aimed at California.

oh yes, another minor detail: she takes no corporate PAC monies.

  1. I think your argument is utterly irresponsible. I would prefer Katie Porter too, but it’s obvious that Steyer will be a far better governor than either hilton or bianco. Likely better than Newsom. Your efforts for Porter will not be enough for her to win the primary. If she splits the democratic vote, we may not have a democrat to vote for in the general. As you surely know.

    1. Not sure how you see me as being irresponsible when I’ve very responsibly have done my homework, researched & investigated all the candidates, examine what people DO, not what they say. How responsible is it to swallow whoever speaks the loudest, who has the most money, who has the best access to the media, but mostly what is responsible about knowing the best candidate and then not only refusing to vote for her but repeating the negative mantra of those in power claiming she’s not worthy of your vote? It’s not up to me to ensure any democrat makes it – it is only up to me to figure out not only who the best person for the job is, but who the person is who will not get my vote only to betray my vote once he gets in power. I think maybe you’re projecting the irresponsible behavior…

  2. Katie worked for California Attorney General Kamila Harris and was so good at keeping the bad actors in line.

  3. I’m still investigating….
    Porter
    and
    Becerra
    Not sure.
It’s hard for me to trust any of these politicians. I certainly don’t trust the white male billionaire. Have been really put off by all the $$$ that guy has spent with his attack ads. Shows he don’t mind wasting moolah on shitshows. Can’t trust those tactics.
My ballot is sitting on my table, waiting, beckoning me. And I keep walking away from it. Feelin like a lost NDN in a conqueror’s world. (sigh)

    1. I understand. It wld be beyond time to hv a Latino governor & also a womon governor. DEF not the rich old white billionaire.
I just watch old clips from Katie challenging the old rich white boyz network & fall in love with her!
      Plus she worked with Kamala.
