Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book “But What Can I Do?” This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in.

I stop in Reno at for an espresso. I’m learning that I can most always count on espresso shop employees to be supportive and this one doesn’t fail me. Both the manager and the associate talk about seeing Fahrenheit 9/11 while loudly declaring their deepest desire to rid our nation and the world of bush. Out in the parking lot, a womon has driven into the lot pulled next to my truck
I hit the road by way of Fort Bragg to load up my last customer’s possessions before I head east. I tune into my treasured KPFA, as has become my essential strengthening tradition when leaving California, getting my last infusion of KPFA as I leave the Bay. It’s the rappsters half-hour, not normally my ‘go-to’ choice for music. White folks often
My cross-country journey was delayed slightly today. I was loading my truck with the final items needed to drive across the country, as well as doing last minute chores around my shop when the hate criminal struck again!!! I think I might have actually spoken w/him – from a distance, thank goodness! I had walked from my front door to the driveway, where my truck was patiently

Just south of Virginia Beach is the home of Camp Pendelton Military Reserve and then continuing south, all up and down North Carolina there are several military bases so I was prepared for a not-so-warm welcome. Plus I thought my sister might find some support back when I thought support might be necessary. I was happy with the lukewarm response in the military towns from the bush supporters, relieved
I must have lost my mind momentarily while planning this road trip with my ultra-conservative, right-wing, still bush-loving, fundamentalist sister – I actually invited her to accompany me to the womxxn’s rights march in D.C. and then travel through the outer banks of North Carolina then to Atlanta with me to visit my daughter. My thinly disguised motive
My apprehension traversing through Virginia Beach, knowing its reputation of wealth and whiteness, increased a million fold with the overwhelming presence of both u.s.ofa. flags and “god bless america” signs, not to mention the large pickup trucks zooming up and down Main Street with their back windows no longer clear but replaced with flags, if not huge flags somehow springing up from the bed of the truck. Houses and business not only have large flags looming over every
The only thing to say is I LOVE WOMXXN!!! The mall
My 101 year old grandmother, still living in her own apartment in New York City with her entire sharp mind and even sharper mouth, insists on me taking her down the 5 flights of stairs (by the elevator which happened to be working that day…) out to the street so she can see my truck in person. My grandmother who has trouble seeing and hearing, points a gnarled shakey finger at the side of my truck that
