tRump’s regime has removed asylum, tps (temporary protective status), and now has removed bond hearings for all those people targeted & caught in his/their violent anti-immigrant web.
People who have no criminal records but have been dark skin, at least darker than most whites, and who have accents. People rounded up, thrown in jail, even those who are & have been here “legally”, for decades.
Totally obliterating our 6th Amendment rights, making it possible for them to be held in jail indefinitely.
So if it costs an average of $17,000+ to detain an immigrant, you can think of cost to the tax payer but I think it is more telling to think of who is making $17,000 per immigrant?
And this is before this new tactic designed to keep immigrants who have never been arrested previously, who have no criminal record, to be locked up merely because of skin color or accent.
This is everything previously malfeasant in our country now on steroids.
