A womon who we brought into the country to talk with us just days after we attacked Iraq spoke those words that stilled the breeze and silenced even the birds.
Now, two decades later I think could this be a giant, shared psychotic break?
Or is it only me who feels like these events we’re experiencing as reality is merely some kind of horrific psychotic break?
Am I having a psychotic break? For this entire past year, actually since November 5th 2024, ever day I keep thinking THIS is the MOST horrific thing that can possibly happen. Anything worse is unimaginable let alone possible.
And here it is, the cusp, if not way past the starting gun of a nuclear war.
Every day there’s been yet another reality-defying action that keeps breaking my heart while infuriating my spirit.
At 18, I knew my generation was going to change the practices of our country that was counter to the ideals and promises we had been taught existed for all yet we found out existed for only the few.
But we were going to.change that.
And we did.
For a brief and brilliant moment we triumphed in little ways that felt monumental. We thought those gains foretold of more to come.
I suppose some of us were naive about our successes.
Some of us underestimated the power of those who represented the ugliest amerikkkan side.
Even more of us thought our successes meant we could relax and bask in the glow of those changes.
And now here we are, with a fascist not just in power but a fascist who was willingly put in power by millions of mostly white amerikkkans who are our neighbors if not our family and friends.
And here lies the additional power of these fascist white supremacists: the people of this country who voted them into power.
It just cannot be true. I don’t want to run down all the heinous things that fascist has both done, ordered, said, defied and defiled – and encouraged in others to also do.
We know exactly who he, his regime, and his followers are.
If I prayed, I would pray for Mother Earth to rise up and destroy every individual and nation willing to kill others and hurt Her.
