Surely this latest horrific prison is calling out for another take over sistar occupation to the Alcatraz in the SF Bay. Surely those that named this place are calling out the intent of that historical occupation.
Fortunately for those of us living now, we have a blueprint for how this occupation can happen if we have the fortitude and willingness to do so – an action that took place less than 60 years ago, not ancient history – and an action that sent tremors reverberating throughout the nation.
How dare this fascist of a president refer to one of the most horrific new prisons on this land as one of the shameful old prisons that was closed because of its immense inhumanity to man – even though maybe cost is cited.
In this country that spouts its freedom mantra higher and with more energy then an erupting Mount Vesuvius, incarcerates more people than any other country in the world – almost 2 million people in prison NOT counting those that incarcerate juveniles, refugees and children.
In case you’re thinking we’re also a large country, we are land-wise, the 4th largest country in the world. But population-wise we have less than 5% of the world’s humans. And our fascists, MAGA peeps, and white ancestors have done everything and are doing everything to make sure we don’t share with especially Black and brown people – and now, not even those whose labor is exploited to make us rich.
So we not only have the largest numbers of imprisoned people, we also have the largest percentage per capita of imprisoned people. And with this ‘new’ violent surge snatching Black and brown people off the street, fields, work places, schools and throwing them into prison, these anti-freedom numbers are greatly increasing.
